Marca reported that Barcelona has not officially joined EFC (the new European Football Club Association), but has made its position clear.

Barcelona Club President Laporta has not officially signed to join the new club association EFC led by Nasser. Nonetheless, this does not prevent Barcelona's move from being a final blow to the European Super League.

EFC and Paris Saint-Germain Club Chairman Nasser held a press conference after the annual meeting to explain the current situation in Barcelona. The two sides displayed a close relationship during the visit, even walking to an official dinner together due to traffic jams in Rome.

Nasser said: "Yesterday was a romantic walk. We hope that everyone can come back, including Real Madrid. This is everyone's home and we are happy that Laporta is back. He believes in EFC, so we don't need any other competition. Today, we have the best club competition, and the new format will be better."

In fact, no one in Rome believes that the Super League can be revived. The new agreement reached through the UC3 joint venture pleases everyone, especially the English clubs. In the new strategic cycle 2027-2033, UEFA and EFC are looking for new ways to promote European competitions to make them more acceptable to fans and reach all corners of the world. So, from a legal perspective, the Super League still exists, but now there are no other supporters besides Barcelona.

UEFA and EFC acted quickly, realizing that A22 might provide more funds. As well as increasing Champions League games and revenue, they have also met EU requirements that any alternatives must be approved by UEFA. This week, Parliament gave them further peace of mind by passing a resolution supporting the two organizations' vision for a competition based on the principles of merit and solidarity.

EFC believes that Laporta's attendance at the Rome meeting is a key step, even if Barcelona has not officially returned to the association. The club believe they also have the support of FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who is in Rome for the annual general meeting. In addition, the Club World Cup promoted by Infantino has also brought more revenue to European teams, further weakening the status of the Super League. In his speech today, Infantino encouraged EFC to move forward.

For the new EFC, the chairman and his executive team stated that it now has greater voice and decision-making power than ever before, representing more than 800 clubs. The new commercial agreement with UC3 also includes the club's involvement in negotiating its rights, as required by the Super League. UC3 announced that it will launch a tender for the TV broadcast rights of UEFA matches from 2027 to 2033 at the end of this month, which is expected to bring in revenue of 5 billion euros per year. Notably, this will be the first time that rights sale negotiations will be conducted under the supervision of US agency Relevent.
