I regret it so much! Chairman Bremen: Stuttgart picked up Waltermad for free and sold 90 million

Waltermad joined Newcastle from Stuttgart this summer with a transfer fee for club history. Bremen chairman Klaus Philbrey said in an interview with "Marca" that he regretted letting the players go for free last year.

"I really regretted seeing him transfer to Newcastle, but congratulations to Stuttgart, they signed a player for free and sold it for 85 million or 90 million euros seven or eight months later. I am happy for Nick (Walter Mad), who is a good person. At the same time, we can also get some youth training compensation from the transfer fee."

"Previous coaches (Ole Werner, currently coaching Leipzig) prefer to use experienced players because they can ensure the team will succeed immediately. Current coach Horst Stephen tends to train young players and create an attractive football style."

Walter Mad came from Bremen's youth training and transferred to Stuttgart freely after his contract expired in July 2024, and quickly grew into one of the most eye-catching attackers in the Bundesliga. Last season, he scored 17 goals in 33 games and won the top scorer in the U21 European Youth Championship this summer.
