Henrichs: Kimmich often asked me about my situation when I was injured. The goal is to participate in the World Cup

Leipzig defender Henrichs recently made a guest appearance on a podcast and shared his journey during his long-term recovery from injury, especially mentioning the care given to him by German team captain Kimmich.

On the support he received during the injury​

"This really surprised me. Kimmich is the person who sends me messages most frequently, and he contacts me almost every two weeks."

What specific content did Kimmich send? ​

"He would ask, 'How are you doing? How are you recovering? We need you! We all miss you!'"

About the initial comeback plan

It's not easy to stay positive, especially during setbacks. When I first started recovering, I told myself: I want to be the person who can recover in five months, and I want to be the person who recovers the fastest.

But what about the actual situation?

I had to have another surgery and even had to learn to walk again at one point. So now I no longer set any "fixed plans" and just focus on health recovery. But I'm closer to my goal than I was eleven months ago, so I'm really looking forward to the day I can get back on the court.

About future goals

My goal is not just to participate in the World Cup, but to play as a main force. I want to be out there and really play, and I'm going to give everything I have to do that.
