Conte: It s a pity that we couldn t score a goal to win, but the players efforts and spirit are beyond reproach

In the fourth round of the Champions League, Naples drew 0-0 at home with Frankfurt. Naples coach Conte was interviewed after the game.

What is your evaluation of this game?

We can say a lot, but you can't win if you don't score goals. Even if you perform well, the score is still 0-0. They have learned Italian style defence very well and if we played like this in Germany people would say it is outdated football... We are trying to bring a more European style of football. It's a shame there was no goal, but I can't fault the players for their effort and dedication.

Many players in Naples are absent from this game, such as De Bruyne.

We will not talk about the players who did not play today, otherwise we would have to mention Lukaku. The players performed well and have adapted to the impact of De Bruyne's absence. Our midfield was already short but we now have a solution. You can talk about ambition many times, but in fact it still needs to be proven by actual actions.

Do you think the players' performance met expectations?

I think the players did their best. I saw some big chances and in this kind of game if you score then everything changes. I see our performance gradually improving and I see a lot of good opportunities. I can't fault the players' fighting spirit. We are going all out, but whether we can succeed in the end, I don't know...
