Australian media: Milan vs. Como in the 24th round of the new Serie A season will be held in Perth, Australia

Football

Australian media nine reported that Perth will become the first foreign city to host the regular season of the top European leagues, and Serie A powerhouse AC Milan will play against Cuomo next year.

This will be the first time that the Italian league has officially held an overseas match, thanks to a recent policy revised by FIFA. As the San Siro Stadium will be requisitioned during the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, AC Milan has been looking for a venue for the game in February. The opening ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, which is AC Milan's long-term home court.

In recent years, it is not uncommon for teams to play overseas in preseason, end season or friendly matches, and Tottenham and AC Milan have played in Australia in recent years. However, until the policy changes last May, the domestic leagues did not allow regular season outside their own territory. Now AC Milan will play a Serie A match with Como on February 8, 2026 at Optus Stadium in Perth, making history.

This game will be held in the middle of the 2025-26 season, and the two teams are only two places apart in this year's standings. As for the cost of Australian fans watching this Serie A game, it is not yet clear. AC Milan last visited Perth in May last year, playing a pre-season friendly match with Rome at the Optus Stadium. The success of that match and the good relationship the club has established with the state government also led to an informal match between Milan and Perth Glory, which is scheduled to be held on July 31.
