US media commented on Durant + Shen Jing + Amen trio: net efficiency value is 26.8, which can help the team win the championship

Basketball

Today, the US media outlet posted some statistics about Durant, Shin Kyung and Amen, believing that they are one of the best trioes in the new season.

Shen Kyung + Amen's combination net efficiency value in the 2024-25 season (net win points for 100 rounds): +11.1, exceeding 93% of the league's combination.

The Rockets already had a strong net efficiency value (+11.1) when Alperen Shinkyung and Amen Thompson were on the court last season. After the trade was given Kevin Durant, the Rockets' net efficiency value reached an astonishing +26.8. This statistics were calculated using 772 rounds when Shinkyung and Amen were present and Jaylen Green was not present.

Adding Durant to the young and defensive Rockets is perfect for the 15-time All-Star player. The Phoenix Suns' performance last season was disappointing, but that obscured Durant's all-time offensive performance. He averaged 26.6 points per game, shot 57% from two-pointers and 43% from three-pointers. Durant became the second player in NBA history to score with such high efficiency, and he was the first one - Durant when he played for the Nets in the 2020-21 season.

Now, the four-time scoring king has a stronger support lineup. Shin Kyung made his first All-Star selection at the age of 22, averaging 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He has steadily improved on the defensive end, ranking fifth in the basket last season and limited his opponent's shooting percentage to the best 58.5% of his career. As one of the best pass big men in the NBA, Durant should be very happy to be playing alongside Shin Kyung.

Amen Thompson was selected into the NBA's All-Defensive Team first team at the age of 22, averaging 16.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game, and his overall shooting percentage reached 56.0% in 42 starts. With his height (2.01 meters) and wingspan (2.13 meters), as well as excellent athleticism, Amen quickly grew into one of the best defensive players in the NBA, and his presence will allow Durant to handle some of the more relaxed forward matches.

If the outside shooting is more stable, Amen is expected to become an All-Star player in the future. Although Durant will turn 37 in September, the presence of two young and rising star players will relieve him, allowing him to keep fresh and efficient on both sides of the offense and defense. The Rockets will be very outstanding next season and have the ability to compete for the championship under Durant.
