Stein: For Mavericks executives, a mid-season general manager change has become inevitable

Dumont and Harrison

Today, Substack reporter Marc Stein wrote an article talking about the future of the Mavericks.

Stein said: "Although Dumont seems to be inclined to give Harrison more time, an inevitable issue is forming among the Mavericks senior management: whether changing the general manager midway through the season is the best way for the team to start the post-Doncic era - although they have just won Flagg with the No. 1 pick, this road to reconstruction is still full of difficulties and obstacles."

"If Dumont Te ultimately decided that a last-minute general manager change was the best option -- although it's unclear who the Mavericks would consider as their long-term successor -- a move that was viewed not only as a way to turn around the team and try to win back disappointed fans, but also based on a consensus that the executive who engineered and pushed for the questionable Doncic trade should no longer be at the helm to lead the team out of its aftermath," Stein wrote.
