Brazilian player Luis Enrique joined Inter Milan this summer. In an interview, he talked about topics such as his nickname, idol, family life, etc.

Inter Milan teammates have called you Gigi. How did this nickname come from?

I don't know who was the first to call it that, but he just simplified my name Louis to Gigi. Now everyone calls me that, and I like this nickname too because it makes me feel more integrated into Inter Milan.

Where can you play?

I will study Dumfries on the right side. He has extraordinary strength. I really hope that I can become a heavy attacker like him. But I also like to play on the left and can cut into the middle, making myself more unpredictable. I think I have the ability to do this.

In the previous warm-up match between Inter Milan and Monaco, you once played in the midfield position

I played in Marseille. At that time, coach Dezelby arranged for me to play like this. Although the positions were different, I found that I often participated in it. I will study hard and I am willing to play anywhere the coach arranges. Working seriously is the most important thing, and to help the team, I am ready to play anywhere.

How do you feel after Inter Milan's first warm-up match this summer?

You can see that this is a real team. I played against Monaco in Ligue 1 and I knew they were a difficult opponent, but Inter Milan won the reverse with one less player, which is something that not every team can do. Of course, the preparation for training is hard, and your body will feel this, but a strong team is being born.

In fact, your experience of playing for Inter Milan this summer's Club World Cup is positive, which allows me to understand my new teammates and new environment. There are many historical monuments in Italy, and Milan's modernization also impressed me, and I feel these more and more. To me, Inter also represents the alien Ronaldo, who is my favorite idol.

Which teammate do you have the closest relationship with in Inter Milan locker room?

Augusto, because we are all Brazilians, we have an innate talent to joke together. Some people say that Augusto looks serious and European compared to me, but that is not the case… Maybe he just needs a fellow Brazilian to inspire his cheerful nature, haha. Lautaro and I get along well, I often communicate with him and he will give me advice. Overall, I was welcomed and supported by me, a locker room that respects and helps each other, made up of strong and modest players, which in the long run makes a difference.

What is your relationship with Inter Milan coach Ziwo?

For me, it is very important to have a coach like him. He was a player, so he understood what players need and how you feel inside.
