ESPN famous reporter Shams Charania reported that Lillard will return to the Trail Blazers.

According to ESPN sources, nine-time NBA All-Star Damian Lillard is about to complete a three-year, $42 million contract to return to the Portland Trail Blazers. This contract is expected to include player options and trade vetos for the 2027-28 season.

Shams also added that Lillard will now receive a fixed salary of $70 million in the 2025-26 season through the Trail Blazers and Bucks, and will reach a total salary of $141 million in the next two years ahead of the 2027 player option. Trail Blazers Management and Goodwin Sports Management's Aaron Goodwin is finalizing terms details this week.

Lillard will use the 2025-26 season to recover from the Achilles tendon tear, and return to Portland where the team and his family and children live is the most important consideration for him. He also received several middle-class special contracts and basic salary quotes from other teams.

In the 2024-25 season, Lillard played 58 regular season games, averaging 36.1 minutes per game, scoring 24.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 1.2 steals. At the end of March this year, he suffered a deep vein thrombosis in his right calf and recovered in less than a month. He returned in G2 against the Pacers in the first round of the playoffs. But in G4, he suffered a tear on his left Achilles tendon and was reimbursed for the season.
